Use a craft punch to cut out circles to represent ladybird spots. Sprinkle these, like confetti, over the sweets table. You could also glue or stitch some to a length of string to make a paper garland.

ladybird-pegs

Buy cheap ladybird pegs from a dollar store and attach them to sweet jars. You can use them to hold food labels or decorations.

ladybird-cake

A party is not complete without the cake, right? Make a cute ladybird cake using red and black fondant. To make a half sphere cake you can use a stainless steel bowl to bake in, or a hemisphere baking tin. Here are some instructions on how to do that.

ladybird-cake-pops

Kids love cake pops, so whip some up and decorate them with ‘grass’ and ladybirds. You can get a quick-to-make cake pop recipe here; then cover with melted green candy melts and green 100s and 1000s (or sprinkles). Make your ladybirds out of red and black gumpaste.

ladybird-snacks

Such cute – and healthy – party food snacks. Slice some black olives, cut a wedge out of several cherry tomatoes and insert two slices of olive into the cut tomato to form wings. Use a couple of dots of cream cheese for the eyes and for sticking the ‘head’ to the ladybird body. Place each ladybird onto a slice of cucumber.

ladybird-sandwiches

Make cute ladybird sandwiches with coloured luncheon sausage. You can colour your slices with food colouring or beetroot juice. Easy as.
