Need a sweet treat in a hurry? Whip up a batch of these delicious cookies – from start to finish they’re ready for devouring in just 20 minutes. Speaking from experience, we recommend you have some liquid refreshments on hand – a cup of tea or glass of milk – if you gobble down three or more in quick succession. They really are that yummy. Makes 8-10 cookies.
Quick chocolate chip cookies
Ingredients
100g (3.5 oz) sugar
100g (3.5 oz) butter, melted
1 tablespoon golden syrup
150g (5.3 oz) all-purpose flour (optional: 75g all-purpose flour and 75g wholemeal flour)
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 cup chocolate drops (or nuts or raisins if you prefer)
Method
1. Line baking tray with grease proof paper and pre-heat oven to 180 degrees C (350 degrees F).
2. Combine sugar and melted butter, add the golden syrup, then half the flour, plus baking powder.
3. Mix through the chocolate chips, then add the remaining flour.
4. Spoon onto baking tray, and press down slightly with fingers. Bake for 10-15 minutes or until golden brown.
Looks like a yummy recipe but What can I use instead of golden syrup?
Hi Reba. You could use maple syrup, which is very similar, or you could try honey, which would give it a slightly different taste.
