It’s a popular material for making crafts, but crepe paper, with its famous crinkle, is a fabulous medium for costumes and paper dresses. Look at this gorgeous fancy dress costume, above, made out of crepe paper (credit: FIDM Museum), dated between 1920 and 1925.
Using crepe paper to make costumes was such a thing back in the day, that booklets were printed by the crepe paper makers themselves to show the public how to make their own party outfits. You can find the below 1925 booklet online here (in a free digital format).
