Tutorial for knitted bootiesIs there a new kid on your block? Whip up these adorable booties in next to no time.

These booties are worked in garter stitch (where every row is knitted) so they couldn’t be simpler. A multicoloured yarn adds another dimension.

You’ll need:
50g ball of 8-ply (DK) Merino
1 pair 3.25mm (UK10/US3) needles
Large-eyed needle

SOLE OF BOOTIE (make 2)
Rows 1 & 2: Cast on 7sts and work 2 rows in garter stitch.
Row 3: Inc 1st at each end of the row. (9sts)
Row 4: K.
Row 5: Inc 1st at each end of the row. (11sts)
Rows 6-10: K.
Row 11: Inc 1st at each end of the row. (13sts)
Rows 12-21: K.
Row 22: Inc 1st at each end of the row. (15sts)
Rows 23-36: K.
(To shape the toes)
Row 37: K2tog at each end of the row. (13sts)
Row 38: K.
Row 39-41: K2tog at each end of the row. (7sts)
Cast off.

BOOTIE UPPERS (make 2)
Rows 1-9:
Cast on 55sts and work 9 rows in garter stitch.
Rows 10 & 11: K2tog at each end of the row. (51sts)
Row 12: K.
Row 13: K2tog at each end of the row. (49sts)
Row 14: K
Row 15: K2tog at each end of the row. (47sts)
Cast off.

MAKING UP
Pin the bootie upper to the outer edge of the sole, overlapping the two ends at the front. Stitch together using the same yarn and a large-eyed needle.
